Harri Koskinen

“The chair frames you, offering support and comfort.”

Harri Koskinen designed the k Chair for Woodnotes in 2004. That same year, the chair was conferred the Interior Design Award in Cologne. The starting point for the design was the Sand upholstery fabric, a central element of the Woodnotes collection.

In addition to Woodnotes, Koskinen has worked with the Finnish companies Arabia, Artek, Finlayson, Genelec, Hackman, Iittala and Marimekko. Internationally he has worked with Cassina IXC, Design House Stockholm, Magis, Maruni, Issey Miyake Inc., Montina,  Muji, O luce, Panasonic, Seiko Instruments Inc. and Venini.

Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Prize 2009 is awarded to Harri Koskinen. He was granted the Compasso d’Oro for the Muu chair he designed for the Italian company Montina in 2004. He was awarded the Pro Finlandia medal in 2007. In 2000, he was named Young Designer of the Year by Design Forum Finland.

Koskinen is an industrial designer by training. He studied at the Lahti Institute of Design and the University of Art and Design Helsinki.
